Shawnee Hills Christian Academy recognizes and respects the uniqueness of each child. The school's primary mission is to bring God-centered education to your children close to home.
Shawnee Hills Christian Academy is a not-for-profit private school grades K - 12 whose mission is to provide safe, secure, ethical, moral, respectful, and joyful God-centered instruction for children. We believe that education should include academics, spiritual growth, and living skills. It is our goal to teach these principles to our students and to foster a love of learning in each student. Our curriculum skillfully weaves artistic and practical disciplines into everyday academics. Students learn to follow their curiosity, to think creatively, and to work both independently and cooperatively with others.
We believe a solid academic foundation creates future opportunities for each child. Our small, multi-aged classrooms allow for self-paced learning and individualized instruction. We use the acclaimed Alpha Omega LIFEPAC curriculum and also offer students the opportunity to learn their subjects on the computer.
Music, drama, art and foreign language instruction increase the breadth of students' knowledge. Students perform twice yearly in our Christmas and spring programs.
Through field trips and hands-on activities, students learn traditional life skills, like cooking, cleaning, sewing, gardening, woodworking, and animal husbandry.
Parents join children to build our school community. Parents participate in the life of the school through our Parent Teacher Organization, family field trips, volunteer activities, and fundraisers.
Relationship With God
We encourage a healthy relationship with God, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Our days begin with Bible reading and prayer time. Students memorize Bible verses or listen to Betty Lukens felt Bible stories. Sometimes, special guests, such as missionaries or local pastors, come and share in our morning devotions.
Teachers, parents and students witness to each other by modeling healthy relationships and applying basic Christian truths to daily living situations. Coming from many denominations, we join together in faith and fellowship.
